| Background Helvetas
– the Swiss
Association for
International Cooperation – was mandated by Intercooperation and the
Natural Resources and Environment (NRE) division of the Swiss
Development Cooperation (SDC) to facilitate and administrate a
Community of Practice on Water for Food. What is a Community of Practice?
A Community of Practice (CoP)
is a network and discussion platform of interested people who wish
to capitalize experience, share and create new knowledge and
innovations.
A CoP works mainly through virtual exchange via e-mail, but if wished
by participants, it can also consist of face-to-face meetings and
public events. A CoP is per definition self-running, that means that
members participate and attend voluntarily, because of their interest.
It is the responsibility of the members to make it attractive and
useful.
CoP on Water for Food
The main topic of this CoP is
"Sustainable use of water resources for food production within the
concept of Integrated Water Resource Management in developing and
transition countries". Within this topic there are many sub-topics that
can be discussed and shared upon. These topics are defined by
participants themselves, based on their expressed needs and interests.
Who are the participants? The CoP is open to all interested people from
local and international NGOs, NGO networks, development programmes and
projects, Government institutions, research and extension institutions,
etc. People from developing and transition countries are especially
welcome to participate. Ideally, the CoP shall become an attractive
platform for practitioners
active in the field. An updated list of participants including their
full contact details is available on this website after you are logged
in. The CoP will be facilitated and
administrated by a staff member of Helvetas in Zurich. Language of the CoP Each
participant can contribute in his/her own language, either in
Spanish, French or English. Contributions in French and
Spanish
will be summarised and translated into English by the facilitator.
However, contributions in English cannot be translated into other
languagues. Interested? Welcome!
If you are interested to participate in the community of practice,
you have to log
in as a member or as a guest (read-only).
